![]() | Health Effects of Beryllium Exposure: A Literature Review (2007) Beryllium alloys are used across a range of industries. At the request of the U.S. Air Force, the National Research Council conducted a literature review focused on the inhalation effects of beryllium. Recent toxicologic and epidemiologic evidence suggests that long-term exposure can lead to chronic beryllium disease that affects the lungs and poses both cancer and noncancer risks.
