The year 2009 marks 25 years since the establishment of the Board on Basic Biology in 1984. The Anniversary celebration will double as the occasion for the "Second Annual Biology Summit," a 1-day public symposium on October 26th that will highlight the Board's past achievements and look forward to the fascinating future of life sciences research. As its center, the symposium will focus on the key messages of the recent report A New Biology for the 21st Century. Released in September 2009, the report assesses the current state and future prospects for life sciences research and how it will contribute to U.S. health, economic, and environmental well-being. Invited symposium speakers will elaborate on the report's major themes and the actions needed to realize the full promise of life sciences research. Please join us for this special event.
