The Need for Diversity

To remain strong in the increasingly globalized economy of the 21st century, the chemical industry will need a workforce that reflects and embraces the ethnically and demographically diverse population of this country. Diversity improves a workforce by sparking innovation and creativity, increasing intellectual diversity, improving public perception, and leading to a better acceptance of various perspectives. To ensure that the nation has a diverse supply of highly-skilled chemists and chemical engineers, universities and companies need to focus on diversifying the student body, faculties, and workforce.
