Climate variability and change and other global environmental changes may affect human health and well-being in a variety of ways, such as influencing the frequency and magnitude of weather-related extreme events such as drought and major storms or by affecting the populations of pathogen-carrying insects that are sensitive to local climate. The National Research Council carries out a variety of studies, workshops, and meetings and publishes numerous reports on science-policy issues related to global environmental change and human health.
