Cancer Risk Phase 1: Schedule and Workplan
The 15-month Phase 1 study will begin on September 1, 2010. The first three months will be used to assemble the expert committee that will be responsible for carrying out the Phase 1 study. The committee will be comprised of 20 members, including up to 2 experts from outside of the United States, with the following collective expertise:
- Demography/spatial analysis
- Dosimetry
- Epidemiology (radiation and general)
- Health physics
- Industrial toxicology
- Medicine/oncology
- Nuclear engineering (familiarity with nuclear plant operations)
- Public health
- Radiobiology
- Radionuclide fate and transport and modeling (air and water)
- Risk communication/public communication
- Social science (environmental justice)
- Statistics/Biostatistics
The committee will hold 5 meetings to gather information and develop a consensus report with findings and recommendations. This report will be released to the study sponsor and to the public at the conclusion of the Phase 1 study.
