The National Research Council established the Committee on Strategic Advice on the U.S. Climate Change Science Program to provide independent advice, through annual reports, on the strategy and evolution of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP). The CCSP incorporates the U.S. Global Change Research Program, established under the Global Change Research Act of 1990, and the Climate Change Research Initiative, established by President Bush in 2001. The program coordinates the climate and global change activities of 13 federal agencies.
The committee's first report provided a preliminary assessment of progress since the program was established in 2002. Read the first report here.
The second report will identify future priorities for the program, based on the results of two workshops and committee deliberations.
Discussion papers from the March 2008 workshop can be found here.
